See the light art with your own group

Rather not pass the artworks shoulder to shoulder on a crowded boat? At Mokumboot you always sail privately during the Amsterdam Light Festival. The boat is just for your group and the skipper takes you past the artworks on the canals, at a pace that suits you.

You sail on a classic tugboat or a luxury open sloop, with room for up to 35 people. A trip lasts 2, 2.5 or 3 hours. The price is per boat, not per person: from € 425 for 2 hours, which with ten people comes to about € 42.50 per person.

  • Only your group on board
  • A skipper who knows the light route and tells you about it
  • Covered boats, with blankets and umbrellas on board
  • Food and drinks on board available
  • 100% electric and quiet

The Light Festival on the canals

During the Amsterdam Light Festival, artists from the Netherlands and abroad place light artworks along and above the canals in winter. Many of the works stand on or over the water, so from a boat you see them up close.

The skipper takes you past the artworks and tells you about them and the city along the way, in English and Dutch. Want to linger somewhere, or slip through the quieter canals for a while? Just say so: you plan the route together.

Warm and dry on board

In autumn and winter our boats are covered, with blankets and umbrellas ready on board. On the classic tugboat you sit at a long table, with a bar and a toilet on board. In the open sloop you sit low on the water, with a clear view of the artworks.

Make an evening of it with snack boards, lunch or dinner from our regular caterers, or choose the pizza boat or pancake boat. You can also bring your own for a corkage fee. You board at Amsterdam Central Station or at the NEMO Science Museum.
