750 years of Amsterdam from the water
Amsterdam has more than 750 years of history, and you can read most of it along the canals. Want to hear those stories without sitting on a crowded boat with strangers? At Mokumboot your canal tour is always private. The boat is just for your group and the skipper tells you about the city along the way, in English and Dutch.
You sail on a classic tugboat or a luxury open sloop, with room for up to 35 people. A tour lasts 2, 2.5 or 3 hours. The price is per boat, not per person: with ten people it comes to about € 42.50 per person.
- Only your group on board
- A skipper who tells you about the city's history
- Route and time agreed with you
- Food and drinks on board available
- 100% electric and quiet

A journey through 750 years of Amsterdam
The skipper takes you along the Singel, Herengracht, Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht: the canal ring that has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2010. You pass the canal houses of wealthy merchants, sail under the Magere Brug and past Royal Theatre Carré.
Because the boat is yours, you plan the route together. Want to see the Golden Bend on the Herengracht, or sail past the Schreierstoren? Let us know in advance and the skipper will plan the tour around it.
Sailing on a classic tugboat
Our tugboats are built after the traditional Amsterdammertje, the tugboat designed especially for the Amsterdam canals. You sit on cushions at a long table, with a bar and a toilet on board. Prefer to sit low on the water with a clear view? Then choose the luxury open sloop.
In autumn and winter the boats are covered, with umbrellas and blankets on board. Our regular caterers can provide snack boards, lunch or dinner; you can also bring your own for a corkage fee.
