Cheese & Cheers Tour
Private canal cruise with cheese and drinks, from € 425 per boat
Cheese and drinks on the canals, with your own group
Fancy Dutch cheese and a good glass on the water, but not on a crowded boat full of strangers? We no longer run the Cheese & Cheers Tour with individual seats. At Mokumboot you always sail privately: you rent the whole boat with a skipper, and our caterers can put a cheese board and drinks on board for you.
You pick the time and sail for 2, 2.5 or 3 hours. The price is per boat, not per person. A 2-hour private tour costs € 425; with ten people that works out at around € 42.50 per person, food and drinks not included.
- Only your group on board, up to 35 people
- Cheese boards from our caterers
- A skipper who steers and tells the stories, in English and Dutch
- 100% electric and quiet

What your cheese cruise looks like
You board at Amsterdam Central Station or at the NEMO Science Museum. The cheese board is ready, the skipper casts off and the city slides past. On the classic tugboat you sit on cushions at a long table, with a bar and a toilet on board. In the luxury open sloop you sit low on the water and can easily move around for a photo.
Food and drinks your way
You decide with us what goes on the board. Want more than drinks and nibbles? Our caterers can also serve lunch or dinner on board. Prefer to bring your own favourite cheese and wine? That's fine, for a corkage fee.
Through the canal ring
You plan the route together with the skipper. A typical tour takes in the Prinsengracht, Herengracht, Keizersgracht and Singel, passes under the Magere Brug and goes by Royal Theatre Carré. Then the skipper heads for the quieter canals, where you can raise a glass in peace. The canal ring has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2010.
Rather sail in the evening? Then you see the bridges and canal houses lit up while you enjoy your cheese. In autumn and winter the boat is covered, with umbrellas and blankets on board.

“The best few hours spent in Amsterdam. The boats are easy to self navigate and it definately doesn’t require training or a licence. The views from the canals are so different of those one sees walking. We were asissted by Lucas and he is a gem of the entire team. Thank you, Lucas!!”
